On June 3, 2023, the cable laying vessel Xiongcheng 5 was launched for Shanghai Xiongcheng Ocean Engineering Co., Ltd., undertaken by Zhenxing Ocean Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd.

The Xiongcheng 5 cable laying vessel has a total length of 125 meters, a width of 37 meters, a depth of 8.2 meters, a designed draft of 5.2 meters, and is classified by CCS China Classification Society. It is an internationally leading multi-purpose large-scale marine engineering equipment that integrates pile foundation and wind turbine transportation, pile foundation sinking, wind turbine installation, and submarine cable laying. It has complete functions and excellent performance, and can lay 10000 ton submarine cables in one go. At the same time, the ship has a full rotation lifting capacity of 800 tons and is currently one of the submarine cable laying equipment in China. The ship has numerous large-scale engineering equipment on board, with complex systems and high technical difficulties. It is a typical high-tech and high value-added marine engineering ship, expected to complete transportation, pile driving, installation of 50 sets of fans, and laying of 50 sets of submarine cables every year. The production and operation of this ship will strongly promote the high-quality development of China's offshore wind power and marine engineering industry.
The Xiongcheng 5 is designed according to the unlimited navigation area, with stability, structural design, and main system equipment such as navigation anchors, mast signals, and navigation equipment, all meeting the design requirements of ships in the unlimited navigation area. It has a global construction capacity and can be in a floating state under good sea conditions. It uses anchoring positioning for wind power foundation construction, wind power equipment hoisting, and submarine cable laying operations. The advanced positioning winch is designed with an 8-anchor positioning method set up below the deck, which maximizes the usage area of the deck. The spacious deck operating space reaches 3600 square meters, allowing for pre installation of wind turbine impellers on the deck. Wind turbine equipment, tooling, pile hammer system, and other deck equipment and materials can be carried into the operation site on the deck. There are no dead corners for lifting and installation in the area, making it easy to meet different assembly and installation requirements.
